Prof. David Bishop

“International Business Management & Seminar in International Business Communication”Office of International Relations in association with the Consortium for Global Education in USA organized the special lectures in May 2012. The 2 lectures were given by Prof. David Bishop and Dr. Chrisann Merriman. Prof. David Bishop has more than 30 years of international management experience related to both business and Christian ministry. He has lived and worked for extended assignments in Seoul, London, Hong Kong and Mainland China. He has provided oversight for projects in some 40 countries and major cities such as Casablanca, Beijing and Jakarta. Prof. Bishop’s special expertise is as management liaison between American and international companies, providing cross cultural business expertise to assist companies and individual entering the global scene. On practical and logical level, he offers solutions to companies who desire to enter the China market by linking with services in the areas of legal, local company information, trademark/patent, due diligence, import/export, tax and accounting.

Dr. Chrisann Merriman

“International Business Management & Seminar in International Business Communication”Office of International Relations in association with the Consortium for Global Education in USA organized the special lectures in May 2012. The 2 lectures were given by Dr. Chrisann Merriman and Prof. David Bishop. Dr. Merriman received her PhD in Organization and Management, specialization Leadership, with her dissertation of “Employee Commitment and Organizational Performance: A Case Study Analysis of a High Technology Start-up”.

Ben Ramirez

“Growth of New Technology – Based Economy towards Creative and Professional Workforce.”With the support from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Mr. Ben Ramiraz, an International Program Manager for the city of Austin in USA, was invited to give a special lecture to SPU students in September 2010. Mr. Ramirez has assisted in numerous international business expansion efforts within the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region and around the world. He is responsible for the city of Austin’s governmental initiative for international projects involving economic development, culture and education. Mr. Ramirez obtained his BA in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Michigan, and his JD from the university of Toledo. He is a charter member of the Young Hispanic Professionals Association of Austin, and Silicon Hills Rotary Club.

Curtis Banner

“Visual Arts Initiative: Social Media and Social Justice”With the support from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Mr. Curtis Banner (Social Justice Photographer) was invited to give a special lecture to SPU students in July 2011. Mr. Banner obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from University Southern California. He has high interest in being a photographer, and specialize in shooting photos for producing movie posters. He did the movie poster shoots for Pirates of the Caribbean II, Green Lantern, John Carter of Mars and the Immortals. His photography includes images of Mickey Rooney, Kenny G, Gerald Wilson, and other notable musicians. Some of his clients include Fox Searchlight, Paramount Studio, Six Degrees Records, Mack Avenue Records, Readers’ Digest, Chip & Pepper Jeans.

Dr. Shugan Chand Jain

“Jain Philosophy on Non–Violence and Ethics” & “Social Consciousness and Jainism”Dr. Shugan Chand Jain, Phomoter-Director of International School for Jain Studies “ISJS”, was invited to give special lectures here at Sripatum University twice, once in September 2010 and again in April 2012. Dr. Shugan was previously IT Consultant & advisor to leading organizations in USA, EU and India. He has also been a consultant to the Government of India and World Bank for various development projects. He devotes majority of his time to the study and practice to Jainism, and also has published a number of papers on Jain Philosophy.
